2025 was huge — kicking off with a record number of memberships across all divisions. A big thumbs-up to Mark Brindley steering the Seniors, and to Marc Smith, the Grommet Whisperer. These guys keep the ship sailing.

With 14 club rounds in total, it wasn’t easy, and the surf conditions this year weren’t ideal. We also had great results at the Usher World Club Challenge Tag Team at Snapper, followed by the ABB National Finals at Burleigh. Big performances from Mali Adam at the Usher and Leihani Zoric at the ABB — both girls surfing amazingly!

We also had the Kirra Teams Men’s, Kirra Juniors, and Kirra Women’s events. Then the Alley Grom Tag Team, which saw our groms take out 1st place. We had a few girls’ teams compete in the Seas the Day event at Kingscliff, which was another great day. We fell just short of making the Straddy Invitational this year.

And we welcomed a very special event put together by Kirsty and Leihani Zoric — Leihani’s Luau, which was a huge success in bringing together our little surfer girls and teenage girls. It wasn’t about competing, but about creating a very special day that everyone who attended absolutely loved!

All up, around 22–23 events — crazy in anyone’s language!

My mission this year was to promote girls’ and women’s surfing in every way possible. I think we’ve done that — and we’ll continue on that pathway.

Building a club that we can all be proud of is very important to me, as I’m sure it is to everyone. We have some amazing people in this club, and just beautiful grommies. We’re building and building — how can you not love this club and what we’ve all created?
