This year kicked off with a bang at the iconic Bondi Pavilion, where we were honored as The No. 1 Club in Australia! To top it off, we received The Simon Anderson Award and were inducted into the Surfing Hall of Fame—an unforgettable start to an incredible year.

Highlights from 2024

ABB Finals at Burleigh Heads

Our Byron team shone brightly, with standout performances from Soli Bailey, Dakoda Walters, and rising star Leihani Zoric. At just 11 years old, Leihani stunned spectators, confidently tackling 6–8 foot surf and proving why she’s a talent to watch for the future.

Soli Bailey’s Big Year

Soli pushed his limits, charging 15–20 foot barrels in Fiji—a feat celebrated among surfing royalty worldwide.

Straddie Invitational Tag Team

One of our favorite events of the year! Byron clinched an impressive 2nd place at this fiercely competitive event.

ABB Qualifier at Coffs Harbour

Our team performed brilliantly, making the final to secure 4th place and qualifying yet again for the ABB Finals at Burleigh.

End-of-Year Presentation

We wrapped up 2024 with a massive celebration at The Park Hotel, our major sponsor. With 200 members attending, it was a fitting way to close out a remarkable season.

Congratulations to All Competitors

This year brought amazing waves for most events, and the level of competition was nothing short of inspiring. Congratulations to our division winners and finalists—you’ve showcased the incredible local talent of Byron Bay and a bright future for surfing in our community.

Final Standings for Each Division

Last Sunday, our final Seniors Round 7 for 2024 took place at Tallows in 2ft+ waves that were much better than the reports showed.

10th NOVEMBER 2024 | TALLOWS

Last Sunday, our final Seniors Round 7 for 2024 took place at Tallows in 2ft+ waves that were much better than the reports showed.

The conditions started slow but improved throughout the day, offering decent sections and ramps to hit. With some of the club division titles still up for grabs, the heats were filled with solid displays of surfing. We’re keeping all the results under wraps until the Preso at the Suffolk Hotel, but judging by the photos, it was a good way to wrap up 2024. A huge thanks to all the surfers involved — it's been an epic year overall!

Our club is sending a team down to Coffs this weekend for the Boardriders Battle, so we wish all those involved the best of luck! You can tune in online via YouTube & Kayo this Saturday.

A massive thanks to Mark Brindley for organising the Senior club rounds this year. Every event was such a fun and relaxed day to be part of, and all the competitors really appreciated it. Special thanks to Neil “Freddo” Cameron for steering the ship all year as Club President. There's been a lot of behind-the-scenes work by him that’s made this year all come together so well. Epic job, thank you!

And finally a massive thanks to our sponsors for this year for supporting our Club.

See you all at the Preso on November 23rd from 3 PM at the Suffolk Park Hotel!

Last Sunday, Seniors Round 6 for 2024 took place at Broken Head Beachies, with competitors battling clean but small 2ft waves. Last Sunday, Seniors Round 6 for 2024 took place at Broken Head beachies, with competitors battling clean but small 2ft waves. The lack of power forced surfers to work hard to make it through their heats, however even with the lack of juice, as seen in the shots and results, our riders still put on an impressive display of surfing.

A big congratulations to the division winners, who all posted solid scores despite the challenging conditions:

  • Luke Stickley was fluid all day and took out the win in the Open Men's.

  • Tim Dobson rode well and came out on top in the Men's Over 50s.

  • Jarred Sullivan secured the win in the Men's Over 35s with some great turns.

  • Mac Brindley surfed consistently to win the Boys Under 18s.

  • Leihani Zoric dominated once again, taking both the Open Women's and Girls Under 18s divisions, ripping beyond her years.

A huge thank you to Mark Brindley for leading the event, and to all the members and families who hung out and lent a hand to make it another awesome day with the BBB Boardriders. Also, thanks to all our sponsors for your support — as always, we really appreciate it!

Our juniors are up at Kirra for the Teams Challenge this weekend, so check out Instagram for all the updates — the groms are doing us proud!

A couple of highlights from the day included Ari Lowe's first big win in the Under-9 boys', and we had a couple of perfect 10s scored by Levi Lowe and Jarrah Lorente, well done guys!

Big thanks to everyone for helping out on the day, and especially to Mark Smith for doing a great job running the show, as we had one of the biggest turnouts so far!

Epic conditions for our 5th round of the juniors. We started off with the 14s boys/girls and the 12s boys battling it out at Derek’s. Solid fast waves on offer and it was great to see Dare Smith take his first win for the year in the 12s boys. While Malia Barron and Benji Wright continued their strong form on the 14s.

We then had all hands on deck helping move the whole competition setup south to Broken Point where the conditions were perfect for all our Parent assist divisions.

Rosie Barron won the junior girls with epic surfing at such a young age, Levi Lowe got the win in the junior boys with his impressive backhand display and Cooper Cameron nailed the under 9s boys getting rewarded for all his time spent practicing out the point.

Massive thanks to all our sponsors.
